Marine educators gathered at EMSEA’s sixth annual conference, hosted by Newcastle University, the School of Natural and Environmental Sciences. The conference was held at the Great North Museum in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
The conference provided delegates the opportunity to inspire and to be inspired by sharing innovative ocean literacy work with others. The conference was a good mixture of talks, interactive workshops, and field trips, social and networking events.
The overarching theme of the 2018 conference was the North Sea. The North East of England has a long proud maritime history, we highlighted this amazing history as well as showcased the many marine innovations the northeast has created today. Sub‐themes of the conference included: Citizen Science, Marine Education and Ocean Literacy, Blue Careers and Transatlantic work.
A free teacher CPD workshop was held, promoting marine education ‘Getting Marine Science Into Your School’ on Monday, 1st October 2018 at the Great North Museum.
