EU4Ocean news
On June 8th, the first Virtual Ocean Literacy Summit will be organised on the occasion of World Ocean Day. There is no better chance to celebrate the creation of the "EU4Ocean” coalition and its dedication to ocean literacy, together with Commissioner for Environment, Oceans and Fisheries, Virginijus Sinkevičius, and IOC-UNESCO. Because of the circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic, we will meet virtually to officially announce and celebrate this launch and share ideas and perspective for the protection of our blue planet.
EMSEA is supporting the Network of European Blue Schools where students embark on a journey to discover the ocean and its value, together with their teachers. Students can select an ocean topic and create a plan around it, or identify a local marine related problem and try to solve it. Successful projects will earn their school the European Blue School certification, because the ocean literate kids of today are the responsible adults of tomorrow.

The spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) has a bigger and bigger influence on this year’s events. EMSEA has taken the decision to postpone this year’s conference in Poland to September 2021. While hugely disappointing, this feels the best course of action to keep you all as safe as possible at a time of universal uncertainty.
We will be working with our host the Gydynia Aquarium to finalize the details and will share more information about our plans for 2021 in the coming months.
Thank you for your continued support and we look forward to seeing you at one of our next events online.

If you wish to support the work of EMSEA and join our community of marine educators and scientists then you can become a member for 40 euro a year. Please go to the Membership page.
